Fluorophore Quantum Yield Rate Ratio Tool

Calculate fluorophore quantum yield rate ratio from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Loading tool…

Description

Return radiative and nonradiative rates from yield and lifetime.

Fluorescence signals combine excitation, emission, detector response and background. An intensity ratio, effective lifetime or anisotropy correction describes a supplied optical model; measured signal fractions and ideal energy-transfer efficiencies are different quantities and need appropriate calibration.

Return radiative and nonradiative rates from yield and lifetime.

When to use this tool

Use Fluorophore Quantum Yield Rate Ratio when checking the stated fluorescence, lifetime, transfer or polarization correction.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter quantumYield, lifetime. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read radiativeRate, nonradiativeRate. Use the output convention below.

Return radiative and nonradiative rates from yield and lifetime. Require quantumYield in [0,1] and lifetime > 0; radiativeRate = yield/lifetime, nonradiativeRate = (1-yield)/lifetime.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This is a single effective-state rate model; real multi-exponential decay, quenching and measured rate uncertainty are not fitted.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated optical measurements and a complete suitable photophysical model, including background, cross-talk and detector effects, for molecular or kinetic inference.
