Fluorescence Lifetime Radiative Rate Factor Tool

Calculate fluorescence lifetime radiative rate factor from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Loading tool…

Description

Return effective fluorescence lifetime and yield from rates.

Fluorescence signals combine excitation, emission, detector response and background. An intensity ratio, effective lifetime or anisotropy correction describes a supplied optical model; measured signal fractions and ideal energy-transfer efficiencies are different quantities and need appropriate calibration.

Return effective fluorescence lifetime and yield from rates.

When to use this tool

Use Fluorescence Lifetime Radiative Rate Factor when checking the stated fluorescence, lifetime, transfer or polarization correction.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter radiativeRate, nonradiativeRate. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read lifetime, radiativeLifetime, quantumYield. Use the output convention below.

Return effective fluorescence lifetime and yield from rates. Require radiativeRate > 0 and nonradiativeRate >= 0; lifetime = 1/(radiative+nonradiative), radiativeLifetime = 1/radiative, yield = radiative/(total rate).1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Rates share inverse-time units and a single-state model; no decay fitting or environmental dependence is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated optical measurements and a complete suitable photophysical model, including background, cross-talk and detector effects, for molecular or kinetic inference.
