Description

Return measured and left-censored shares under a missing-data policy.

A censored analytical result provides a bound rather than a quantified concentration. Missing results, left-censoring, right-censoring and endpoint inclusion are different states; a reporting share or interval-width check does not select a detection limit or recover unobserved values.

Return measured and left-censored shares under a missing-data policy.

When to use this tool

Use Biomonitoring Research Below Limit Share when checking the stated censoring, qualifier or reporting-denominator convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter measured, leftCensored, rightCensored, missing, includeMissing. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read denominator, belowShare, measuredShare. Use the output convention below.

Return measured and left-censored shares under a missing-data policy. Require nonnegative whole counts and measured+leftCensored+rightCensored > 0; denominator adds missing only when includeMissing, shares divide measured and left-censored counts by that base.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Left-censored records are not quantified concentrations; including missing observations changes the reporting denominator without imputing outcomes.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Retain the original qualifier and method-specific detection/reporting definitions; use an appropriate censored-data analysis for estimates or uncertainty.
