Biomonitor Nondetect Closure Token Tool

Audit a supplied nondetect annotation against an explicit limit convention without substituting a concentration.

Description

Check a nondetect label against a supplied limit policy.

A censored analytical result provides a bound rather than a quantified concentration. Missing results, left-censoring, right-censoring and endpoint inclusion are different states; a reporting share or interval-width check does not select a detection limit or recover unobserved values.

Check a nondetect label against a supplied limit policy.

When to use this tool

Use Biomonitor Nondetect Closure Token when checking the stated censoring, qualifier or reporting-denominator convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter value, limit, nondetect, includeLimit. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read consistentUnderRule, upperBounded, upperBound. Inspect consistentUnderRule, upperBounded before interpreting the associated values.

Check a nondetect label against a supplied limit policy. consistentUnderRule is true when not nondetect, otherwise value <= limit when inclusive or value < limit; upperBound is limit only when nondetect, zero otherwise.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Zero upperBound without upperBounded is a placeholder; this does not quantify a nondetect or choose a valid detection limit.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Retain the original qualifier and method-specific detection/reporting definitions; use an appropriate censored-data analysis for estimates or uncertainty.
