Scaffold Geometric Porosity Input

Calculate geometric void fraction from explicit envelope and solid volumes without modeling connectivity or biological performance.

Loading tool…

Description

Calculate supplied scaffold void volume and geometric porosity.

Fabrication records distinguish supplied design versions, geometry, image clocks and material lots. Porosity depends on an envelope-volume definition, compression-positive strain differs from extension-positive strain, and nominal circular nozzle area does not determine printed line width. These scalar terms preserve supplied measurement assumptions.

Calculate supplied scaffold void volume and geometric porosity.

When to use this tool

Use Scaffold Geometric Porosity Input when you already have envelopeVolume, suppliedSolidVolume and need to calculate supplied scaffold void volume and geometric porosity.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter envelopeVolume, suppliedSolidVolume. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read voidVolume, geometricPorosity. Use the output convention below.

Require envelopeVolume>0 and 0<=suppliedSolidVolume<=envelopeVolume; return envelope-solid and 1-solid/envelope.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input

suppliedSolidVolumeSupplied Solid VolumeRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
voidVolumeVoid VolumeRequired. Finite number.
geometricPorosityVoid/envelope volume, calculated as 1-solid/envelope; not accessible or connected porosity.Required. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Use compatible volume units and the same envelope definition. This scalar ratio does not assess pore connectivity, accessibility, biological performance or safe fabrication.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect calibrated geometry, controlled design/material records and the complete process model. Use appropriate physical and biological assessment when evaluating a real construct, device or fabrication condition.
