Description
Return absolute and relative probability change.
Research ethics review involves evidence, participants, governance and context as well as record completeness. Role counts, disclosure presence and weighted criterion terms can organize supplied assertions; a complete checklist or numerical score does not itself determine ethical acceptability or valid authority.
Return absolute and relative probability change.
When to use this tool
Use Benefit Description Absolute Relative Gap when checking the stated research-review record, role, disclosure or criterion convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter baselineProbability, newProbability. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read absoluteChange, relativeChange, relativeDefined. Inspect relativeDefined before interpreting the associated values.
Return absolute and relative probability change. Require both probabilities in [0,1]; absoluteChange = new-baseline, relativeChange divides by baseline or is zero with relativeDefined false at baseline zero.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| baselineProbability | Baseline Probability | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| newProbability | New Probability | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| absoluteChange | Probability fraction new-baseline; multiply by 100 to express percentage-point change. | Required. Finite number. |
| relativeChange | Relative Change | Required. Finite number. |
| relativeDefined | Relative Defined | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Absolute change is a probability fraction, not percentage points until multiplied by 100; no causal benefit or clinical appropriateness is established.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
