Description
Return parent/child quantity discrepancy and allocated share.
Biobank quantity and time budgets use explicit parent/aliquot, dead-volume, clock and billing conventions. A remainder, delay envelope or fee term can reconcile supplied records without establishing specimen stability, safe use or actual contractual rights.
Return parent/child quantity discrepancy and allocated share.
When to use this tool
Use Biobank Parent Child Quantity Reconcile when checking the stated biobank volume, timing, precision or fee convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter parent, children, retained, lost. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read unaccounted, allocatedShare. Use the output convention below.
Return parent/child quantity discrepancy and allocated share. Require parent > 0 and nonnegative children/retained/lost; unaccounted = parent-sum(children)-retained-lost, allocatedShare = childSum/parent.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| parent | Parent | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| children | Children | Required. Array of finite number; maximum items 256. |
| retained | Retained | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| lost | Lost | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| unaccounted | Unaccounted | Required. Finite number. |
| allocatedShare | Allocated Share Unit: 1. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Over-allocation and negative residuals are retained; specimen quality, identity and actual transactions are not verified.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified collection/storage records, suitable quality controls and governing billing/permission rules for actual specimen or payment decisions.
