Aliquot Parent Volume Residual Tool

Supplied specimen-volume reconciliation without collection or processing recommendations.

Loading tool…

Description

Return parent/aliquot expected remainder and discrepancy.

Biobank quantity and time budgets use explicit parent/aliquot, dead-volume, clock and billing conventions. A remainder, delay envelope or fee term can reconcile supplied records without establishing specimen stability, safe use or actual contractual rights.

Return parent/aliquot expected remainder and discrepancy.

When to use this tool

Use Aliquot Parent Volume Residual when checking the stated biobank volume, timing, precision or fee convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter parentVolume, aliquotVolumes, deadVolume, recordedRemainder. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read expectedRemainder, residual. Use the output convention below.

Return parent/aliquot expected remainder and discrepancy. Require nonnegative parent/dead/recorded remainder/aliquots and aliquot sum+dead <= parent; expected = parent-sum-dead, residual = recorded-expected.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • All volumes need one basis; no physical aliquoting, measurement validity or specimen quality is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified collection/storage records, suitable quality controls and governing billing/permission rules for actual specimen or payment decisions.
