Description
Format an escaped author credit with an affiliation superscript.
Bibliographic records distinguish editions, publication states, author identifiers, dates and fractional-credit conventions. A DOI-shaped string may not resolve, and an ORCID-shaped string can fail its checksum. Supplied status and source labels organize evidence without establishing authorship, publication validity or a complete impact measure.
Format an escaped author credit with an affiliation superscript.
When to use this tool
Use Credit Line Affiliation Superscript when you already have authorName, affiliationMarker and need to format an escaped author credit with an affiliation superscript.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter authorName, affiliationMarker. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read creditHtml. Use the output convention below.
Require authorName and affiliationMarker nonempty; escape &, <, >, double quote and apostrophe in both, then join author text with a literal sup element containing the marker.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| authorName | Author Name | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| affiliationMarker | Affiliation Marker | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| creditHtml | HTML fragment with both supplied texts escaped and the marker inside a superscript element; not plain text. | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
{
"input": {
"authorName": "A. Lee",
"affiliationMarker": "1"
},
"output": {
"creditHtml": "A. Lee\u003csup>1\u003c/sup>"
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- Output is an HTML fragment, not plain text or a whole document. Escaping supplied fields does not establish valid affiliation, attribution, rights or safe treatment of unrelated markup.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Check original publications, authoritative identifier records and current publisher notices. Define counting scope, credit allocation and date meaning before combining local labels or author overlaps into a bibliometric analysis.
