Disk QC Range Audit
Audit observed QC disk zones against supplied strain-, drug-, and method-specific inclusive ranges.
Description
Quality-control disk zones are assessed against strain-, drug- and method-specific ranges.
Quality-control disk zones are assessed against strain-, drug- and method-specific ranges. A signed deviation indicates whether an observation falls below the lower bound or above the upper bound.1
Audit observed QC disk zones against supplied strain-, drug-, and method-specific inclusive ranges.
When to use Disk QC Range Audit
Use this tool to audit observed QC disk zones against supplied strain-, drug-, and method-specific inclusive ranges.
Prepare the sample, count, growth or assay measurements requested by this tool. Confirm units, sampling periods and reporting bases; supply independently established comparison criteria where requested.
How to use Disk QC Range Audit and understand its results
- Prepare the sample, count, growth or assay measurements requested by this tool. Confirm units, sampling periods and reporting bases; supply independently established comparison criteria where requested.
- Enter qcRecordIds, zoneDiametersMm, minimumZonesMm, maximumZonesMm using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read withinRangeFlags, deviationsMm, outOfRangeRecords. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| qcRecordIds | Qc record ids | list of string | Required |
| zoneDiametersMm | Zone diameters mm | list of number | Required |
| minimumZonesMm | Minimum zones mm | list of number | Required |
| maximumZonesMm | Maximum zones mm | list of number | Required |
Enter distinct QC IDs and aligned nonnegative zone diameters plus ordered nonnegative min/max limits in mm. Both endpoints pass. The tool returns 0/1 range flags, signed deviations and out-of-range record IDs in input order.
Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths.
deviation=zone−nearest violated bound; in-range deviation=0 Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| withinRangeFlags | Within range flags | list of number |
| deviationsMm | Deviations mm | list of number |
| outOfRangeRecords | Out of range records | list of string |

} Limitations and assumptions
Ranges are supplied and not verified against a current standard. This does not establish an entire assay's validity or classify an isolate's susceptibility; records must identify the appropriate QC conditions.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Supplied Disk Zone Interpretation: Apply caller-supplied disk-diffusion zone breakpoints; I retains the supplied classification scheme and is not universally interpreted as intermediate. For a complementary task, use Countable Plate Selection: Select colony-count plates within caller-specified countability limits, retaining low and excessive counts separately.
