Standard Flow Volume Ratio Tool

Compare same-amount ideal-gas volumes using supplied absolute temperatures and pressures, without fixed standard conditions.

Loading tool…

Description

Return ideal-gas standard/actual volume ratio.

Gas-sampling conversions distinguish actual from reference volume, wet from dry composition and total from partial pressure. A supplied ideal-gas or constant-flow factor requires compatible units and state definitions without validating actual sampling conditions or exposure.

Return ideal-gas standard/actual volume ratio.

When to use this tool

Use Standard Flow Volume Ratio when checking the stated gas state, sampling-volume or flow-basis conversion.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter actualTemperature, standardTemperature, actualPressure, standardPressure. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read standardToActualVolume. Use the output convention below.

Return ideal-gas standard/actual volume ratio. Require positive absolute temperatures and pressures; standardToActualVolume = (standardTemperature/actualTemperature)*(actualPressure/standardPressure).1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This factor multiplies actual volume to give standard volume for fixed amount; no universal standard state or real-gas correction is selected.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified absolute pressure/temperature, humidity and flow calibration with the appropriate real-gas/sampling model when ideal assumptions are inadequate.
