Photolysis Band Edge Width Term Tool

Spectral interval width after explicitly supplied edge exclusions, not a photolysis-rate model.

Loading tool…

Description

Return spectral-band width after excluded edge widths.

Atmospheric reaction, partitioning and deposition terms depend on supplied rates, spectral coordinates, coefficient definitions and transport assumptions. One bin or first-order factor is distinct from a complete chemical mechanism, evolving plume or verified treatment/exposure outcome.

Return spectral-band width after excluded edge widths.

When to use this tool

Use Photolysis Band Edge Width Term when evaluating the stated atmospheric reaction, photolysis, partitioning or transport term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter lowerEdge, upperEdge, lowerExcluded, upperExcluded. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read nominalWidth, includedWidth. Use the output convention below.

Return spectral-band width after excluded edge widths. Require ordered distinct band edges and nonnegative exclusions totaling no more than nominal width; includedWidth = upper-lower-lowerExcluded-upperExcluded.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This is width bookkeeping, not an integrated photon flux, response function or spectral-measurement validation.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified coefficients and a complete suitable chemical/transport or spectral model, including changing conditions and omitted processes, for environmental conclusions.
