Description
Return flow-weighted gas dilution concentration.
Atmospheric analytical quantities require explicit sample/background, mole, charge, reference-pressure and reporting bases. A ratio or balance can be consistent numerically without establishing actual composition, sample representativeness, source identity or a health/regulatory interpretation.
Return flow-weighted gas dilution concentration.
When to use this tool
Use Gas Standard Dilution Flow Ratio when checking the stated atmospheric chemical measurement, composition or amount convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter standardConcentration, standardFlow, diluentConcentration, diluentFlow. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read totalFlow, mixtureConcentration, standardFraction. Use the output convention below.
Return flow-weighted gas dilution concentration. Require nonnegative concentrations/flows with positive total flow; mixture = sum(concentration*flow)/totalFlow, standardFraction = standardFlow/totalFlow.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| standardConcentration | Standard Concentration | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| standardFlow | Flow on the same state/unit basis as diluentFlow, not automatically converted from a reference state. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| diluentConcentration | Diluent Concentration | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| diluentFlow | Diluent Flow | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| totalFlow | Total Flow | Required. Finite number. |
| mixtureConcentration | Mixture Concentration | Required. Finite number. |
| standardFraction | Standard Fraction | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Flows must use a common temperature/pressure reference and mixture basis; no gas mixing, calibration validation or exposure suitability is established.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use calibrated analytical data, compatible units and complete sampling/speciation information; consult appropriate environmental professionals for exposure or regulatory decisions.
