Mixing Ratio Reference Pressure Factor Tool

Rescale a supplied ideal-gas partial pressure at constant mole fraction without inferring atmospheric composition.

Description

Return partial-pressure fraction and reference-pressure equivalent.

Atmospheric analytical quantities require explicit sample/background, mole, charge, reference-pressure and reporting bases. A ratio or balance can be consistent numerically without establishing actual composition, sample representativeness, source identity or a health/regulatory interpretation.

Return partial-pressure fraction and reference-pressure equivalent.

When to use this tool

Use Mixing Ratio Reference Pressure Factor when checking the stated atmospheric chemical measurement, composition or amount convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter partialPressure, totalPressure, referencePressure. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read mixingFraction, referencePartialPressure. Use the output convention below.

Return partial-pressure fraction and reference-pressure equivalent. Require positive total/reference pressures and partialPressure within [0,total]; mixingFraction = partial/total, referencePartialPressure = fraction*reference.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This assumes a compatible gas-mixture basis; no actual composition, thermodynamic state or instrument calibration is validated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated analytical data, compatible units and complete sampling/speciation information; consult appropriate environmental professionals for exposure or regulatory decisions.
