Denuder Capture Background Correction Term Tool

Signed field-blank correction followed by explicit capture-efficiency adjustment.

Loading tool…

Description

Return denuder blank-corrected amount and capture-corrected concentration.

Atmospheric analytical quantities require explicit sample/background, mole, charge, reference-pressure and reporting bases. A ratio or balance can be consistent numerically without establishing actual composition, sample representativeness, source identity or a health/regulatory interpretation.

Return denuder blank-corrected amount and capture-corrected concentration.

When to use this tool

Use Denuder Capture Background Correction Term when checking the stated atmospheric chemical measurement, composition or amount convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter collectedAmount, blankAmount, sampledVolume, captureFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read netAmount, correctedConcentration. Use the output convention below.

Return denuder blank-corrected amount and capture-corrected concentration. Require collected/blank amounts >= 0, sampledVolume > 0 and captureFraction in (0,1]; netAmount = collected-blank, concentration = net/(volume*capture).1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative corrected concentrations are retained; capture fraction, actual sampling performance and health interpretation are not verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated analytical data, compatible units and complete sampling/speciation information; consult appropriate environmental professionals for exposure or regulatory decisions.
