Studio Material Unit Share Tool

Calculate studio material unit share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Return material use as a supplied-quantity share.

Studio material calculations distinguish gross stock, usable material, finished area and losses. A loss fraction can refer to material removed from the starting quantity or an extra allowance added to a requirement; these conventions produce different formulas and must remain explicit.

Return material use as a supplied-quantity share.

When to use this tool

Use Studio Material Unit Share when checking the stated studio material, shrinkage or usable-area convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter used, supplied. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read share. Use the output convention below.

Return material use as a supplied-quantity share. Require used >= 0 and supplied > 0; share = used/supplied.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Above-one use is retained; no inventory authenticity, material suitability or safe handling procedure is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use measured material behavior, actual offcuts and process-specific trials to plan fabrication or firing; review classroom conditions with qualified staff.
