Description
Return one mural team's weighted area and waste-adjusted material area.
Studio material calculations distinguish gross stock, usable material, finished area and losses. A loss fraction can refer to material removed from the starting quantity or an extra allowance added to a requirement; these conventions produce different formulas and must remain explicit.
Return one mural team's weighted area and waste-adjusted material area.
When to use this tool
Use Mural Team Panel Area Allocation when checking the stated studio material, shrinkage or usable-area convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter totalArea, weights, team, wasteFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read finishedArea, materialArea. Use the output convention below.
Return one mural team's weighted area and waste-adjusted material area. Require nonnegative total/weights with positive weight sum, valid team index and wasteFraction in [0,1); finished = total*teamWeight/sum, material = finished/(1-waste).1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| totalArea | Total Area | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| weights | Supplied weights; any normalization and alignment conditions are stated above. | Required. Array of finite number; maximum items 256. |
| team | Team | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| wasteFraction | Lost fraction of starting material; materialArea=finishedArea/(1-wasteFraction). | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; strictly below 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| finishedArea | Finished Area | Required. Finite number. |
| materialArea | Material Area | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Waste is the fraction of purchased material lost, not an additive extra fraction; actual team needs and surface geometry are not verified.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use measured material behavior, actual offcuts and process-specific trials to plan fabrication or firing; review classroom conditions with qualified staff.
