Art Rubric Criterion Weight Residual Tool

Calculate art rubric criterion weight residual from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Return assigned rubric-weight total and remaining budget.

Studio-class budgets allocate supplied time, turns, places and materials. Reserved quantities and shared work affect the reporting denominator, and a negative remainder or undefined per-person amount is useful bookkeeping information. These arithmetic checks do not assess learning quality, accessibility or whether a real class can safely perform an activity.

Return assigned rubric-weight total and remaining budget.

When to use this tool

Use Art Rubric Criterion Weight Residual when checking the stated studio allocation, participation, capacity or time budget.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter assignedWeights, desiredTotal. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read assigned, remaining. Use the output convention below.

Return assigned rubric-weight total and remaining budget. Require nonnegative weights/desiredTotal; assigned sums weights, remaining = desired-assigned.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative remaining reports over-allocation; no grading rubric, criterion validity or learner assessment is selected.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the actual class plan, learner needs, usable resources and supervision requirements before organizing an activity.
