Conservation Brush Stroke Overlap Coverage Tool

Parallel equal-width straight strokes with a fixed adjacent overlap and no change in stroke length.

Loading tool…

Description

Return ideal parallel-stroke area and overlap.

Conservation measurements separate nominal material composition, contact geometry, expansion and mechanical response. A volume fraction or clearance term evaluates supplied properties under a limited model; actual material compatibility, treatment effects and object stability require examination and specialist judgment.

Return ideal parallel-stroke area and overlap.

When to use this tool

Use Conservation Brush Stroke Overlap Coverage when checking the stated conservation material, dimensional or mechanical term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter strokeWidth, overlapFraction, strokes, length. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read coveredWidth, coveredArea, excessPaintedArea. Use the output convention below.

Return ideal parallel-stroke area and overlap. Require nonnegative width/length, whole strokes >= 0 and overlapFraction in [0,1]; nonempty covered width = width*(1+(strokes-1)*(1-overlap)), repeated painted area = width*length*(strokes-1)*overlap.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Zero strokes gives zero outputs; this strip model does not prescribe brushing, assess coating behavior or establish treatment suitability.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated measurements, representative material tests and qualified conservation/engineering assessment before actual treatment, mounting or handling.
