Window Reveal Depth Reference

Subtract an explicit wall reference coordinate from the window face on a shared depth axis.

Description

Compare a supplied window-face coordinate with a wall reference.

Architectural scalar geometry depends on datums, finish build-ups, endpoint conventions and supplied corrections. A nominal lintel seat differs from verified bearing capacity, and internal masonry joints differ from a module repeated with extra end joints. Negative clearances can reveal discrepancies without assessing structural or legal suitability.

Compare a supplied window-face coordinate with a wall reference.

When to use this tool

Use Window Reveal Depth Reference when you already have wallReferenceCoordinate, windowFaceCoordinate and need to compare a supplied window-face coordinate with a wall reference.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter wallReferenceCoordinate, windowFaceCoordinate. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read signedGap. Use the output convention below.

Return windowFaceCoordinate-wallReferenceCoordinate with signs preserved.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
wallReferenceCoordinateWall Reference CoordinateRequired. Finite number.
windowFaceCoordinateWindow Face CoordinateRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Coordinates require a common axis, origin and unit. No reveal geometry, detailing, performance or safe construction is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use controlled drawings, site measurements and complete engineering and code assessment. Check geometry, tolerances, loads and applicable requirements before interpreting local dimensions as a valid or safe design.
