Stair Riser Count Adjusted Rise

Divide an explicit finish-corrected stair rise into equal risers without choosing counts or checking building codes.

Description

Divide a supplied finish-adjusted total rise across risers.

Architectural scalar geometry depends on datums, finish build-ups, endpoint conventions and supplied corrections. A nominal lintel seat differs from verified bearing capacity, and internal masonry joints differ from a module repeated with extra end joints. Negative clearances can reveal discrepancies without assessing structural or legal suitability.

Divide a supplied finish-adjusted total rise across risers.

When to use this tool

Use Stair Riser Count Adjusted Rise when you already have totalRise, riserCount, suppliedFinishCorrection and need to divide a supplied finish-adjusted total rise across risers.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter totalRise, riserCount, suppliedFinishCorrection. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read adjustedTotalRise, equalRiserHeight. Use the output convention below.

Require riserCount positive safe whole, totalRise>=0 and totalRise+suppliedFinishCorrection>=0; return adjusted total and adjusted/count.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
totalRiseTotal RiseRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
riserCountRiser CountRequired. Safe integer; minimum 1.
suppliedFinishCorrectionSigned length added to totalRise before dividing by riserCount.Required. Finite number.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
adjustedTotalRiseAdjusted Total RiseRequired. Finite number.
equalRiserHeightEqual Riser HeightRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Correction is added with its supplied sign. This does not determine a legal riser count, tread geometry, accessibility, construction tolerance or safe stair design.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use controlled drawings, site measurements and complete engineering and code assessment. Check geometry, tolerances, loads and applicable requirements before interpreting local dimensions as a valid or safe design.
