Roof Pitch Clearance Point Tool

Evaluate one ideal roof-line point from supplied dimensions without a structural or code-compliance assessment.

Description

Return roof height and point clearance above an obstruction.

Architectural openings and clearances depend on measured boundaries, projection axes and a caller-supplied comparison criterion. A positive geometric margin is distinct from demonstrating code compliance, safe access or a complete door-swing envelope. Plan lengths and projected dimensions must not be mistaken for full spatial measurements.

Return roof height and point clearance above an obstruction.

When to use this tool

Use Roof Pitch Clearance Point when checking the stated opening, projection or clearance geometry.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter horizontalDistance, risePerRun, originHeight, obstructionHeight. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read roofHeight, clearance. Use the output convention below.

Return roof height and point clearance above an obstruction. roofHeight = originHeight+horizontalDistance*risePerRun, clearance subtracts obstructionHeight.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This is a local straight-profile calculation, not a complete obstruction survey, structural design or safe-clearance determination.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use complete measured plans and a qualified architectural/engineering assessment with the applicable requirements for real construction or safety decisions.
