Description
Return horizontal projection of a sloping eave.
Architectural openings and clearances depend on measured boundaries, projection axes and a caller-supplied comparison criterion. A positive geometric margin is distinct from demonstrating code compliance, safe access or a complete door-swing envelope. Plan lengths and projected dimensions must not be mistaken for full spatial measurements.
Return horizontal projection of a sloping eave.
When to use this tool
Use Pitched Roof Eave Horizontal Projection when checking the stated opening, projection or clearance geometry.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter slopingLength, pitchRadians. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read horizontal. Use the output convention below.
Return horizontal projection of a sloping eave. Require slopingLength >= 0 and pitchRadians in [0,pi/2); horizontal = length*cos(pitch).1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| slopingLength | Sloping Length | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| pitchRadians | Pitch Radians | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| horizontal | Horizontal | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Use a roof angle from horizontal in radians; actual roof geometry, loading and drainage are not assessed.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use complete measured plans and a qualified architectural/engineering assessment with the applicable requirements for real construction or safety decisions.
