Growbed Pore Volume Base Flag Tool

Apply an explicit bulk-versus-pore-volume fill-fraction basis.

Loading tool…

Description

Return a grow-bed fill volume on a selected basis.

Aquaponic flow and storage models depend on usable pore space, reserve volume, pump head and operating duration. An ideal hydraulic power or nominal turnover term describes supplied values while actual flow distribution, aeration and equipment performance require measurement and system design.

Return a grow-bed fill volume on a selected basis.

When to use this tool

Use Growbed Pore Volume Base Flag when checking the stated aquaponic flow, volume or power term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter bulkVolume, poreFraction, fillFraction, usePoreBase. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read denominatorVolume, filledWaterVolume. Use the output convention below.

Return a grow-bed fill volume on a selected basis. Require bulkVolume >= 0 and pore/fill fractions in [0,1]; denominator is bulk or bulk*poreFraction, filledWaterVolume = denominator*fillFraction.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
bulkVolumeBulk VolumeRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.

fillFractionFill FractionRequired. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1.
usePoreBaseTrue selects bulkVolume*poreFraction; false selects bulkVolume as denominatorVolume.Required. Boolean.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
denominatorVolumeDenominator VolumeRequired. Finite number.
filledWaterVolumeFilled Water VolumeRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Pore-base fill differs from bulk-base fill; no actual media properties, hydraulics or suitable fill level is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use measured flows and verified equipment/system specifications with qualified engineering and aquaculture review for real operation.
