Recirculation Volume Factor Tool

Convert supplied circulated volume into ideal loop-volume equivalents without assuming complete physical water replacement.

Loading tool…

Description

Return circulated volume equivalents and their rate.

Aquaponic flow and storage models depend on usable pore space, reserve volume, pump head and operating duration. An ideal hydraulic power or nominal turnover term describes supplied values while actual flow distribution, aeration and equipment performance require measurement and system design.

Return circulated volume equivalents and their rate.

When to use this tool

Use Recirculation Volume Factor when checking the stated aquaponic flow, volume or power term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter circulatedVolume, loopVolume, suppliedTimeSpan. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read volumeEquivalentCycles, cyclesPerTime. Use the output convention below.

Return circulated volume equivalents and their rate. Require circulatedVolume >= 0 and loopVolume/timeSpan > 0; equivalentCycles = circulated/loop, cyclesPerTime divides by span.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This does not count independent water replacements or verify mixing, pump performance or adequate animal conditions.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use measured flows and verified equipment/system specifications with qualified engineering and aquaculture review for real operation.
