Tank Working Volume Gap Tool

Calculate tank working volume gap from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Return expected tank working volume and measurement gap.

Tank geometry, exchange and equipment budgets use explicit volume, flow, mixing and efficiency assumptions. Ideal complete mixing differs from replacing distinct water portions, and energy usage differs from power. Nominal calculations do not establish actual oxygenation, animal welfare or safe installation.

Return expected tank working volume and measurement gap.

When to use this tool

Use Tank Working Volume Gap when checking the stated aquaculture geometry, exchange or equipment term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter geometricVolume, excludedVolume, measuredWorkingVolume. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read expectedWorkingVolume, residual. Use the output convention below.

Return expected tank working volume and measurement gap. Require nonnegative geometry/exclusion with excluded <= geometric and measuredWorking >= 0; expected = geometric-excluded, residual = measured-expected.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This does not determine actual tank geometry, water displacement or suitable stocking/operation.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Verify actual tank geometry, mixing and equipment performance, and obtain qualified aquaculture/engineering advice for operation and safety.
