Honey Yield Per Super Estimate

Measure per-super honey recovery and residual from matched full/post-extraction frame weights and tares; frame wax/wood tare must remain constant.

Description

Matched full and post-extraction frame weights separate recovered honey from residual honey.

Matched full and post-extraction frame weights separate recovered honey from residual honey. A constant frame tare is needed to avoid counting wax or wooden components as honey.1

Measure per-super honey recovery and residual from matched full/post-extraction frame weights and tares; frame wax/wood tare must remain constant.

When to use Honey Yield Per Super Estimate

Use this tool to measure per-super honey recovery and residual from matched full/post-extraction frame weights and tares; frame wax/wood tare must remain constant.

Prepare the hive, sample or operating measurements and any supplied target values. Confirm units, timing and whether counts or masses refer to the same population or batch.

How to use Honey Yield Per Super Estimate and understand its results

  1. Prepare the hive, sample or operating measurements and any supplied target values. Confirm units, timing and whether counts or masses refer to the same population or batch.
  2. Enter fullFrameMassesKg, postExtractionMassesKg, frameTaresKg using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read recoveredHoneyKg, residualHoneyKg, massRecoveryFraction. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
Input fieldMeaningValue type; see rules belowRequirement
fullFrameMassesKgFull frame masses kglist of numberRequired
postExtractionMassesKgPost extraction masses kglist of numberRequired
frameTaresKgFrame tares kglist of numberRequired

Pair nonnegative full, post-extraction and tare masses in kg. Require tare≤post≤full for every frame and positive total modeled honey. Return recovered and residual kg and their recovery fraction.

Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths.

recovered = Σ(full−post); residual = Σ(post−tare); recoveryFraction = recovered/(recovered+residual)

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

Frame and wax tare must remain constant between weighings. Losses outside the matched inventory and measurement uncertainty are not resolved; the result is observed mass accounting rather than a generic super yield.

Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Honey Frame Weight Full Estimate: Estimate honey mass from distinct comb-face areas, filled honey depths and supplied density, adding frame tare; no nominal full-frame capacity table. For a complementary task, use Extraction Room Throughput Frames Hour: Screen serial extraction-room bottlenecks including parallel stations, productive fractions and common setup; assumes adequate buffering and no hidden batch dependencies.
