Honey Frame Weight Full Estimate
Estimate honey mass from distinct comb-face areas, filled honey depths and supplied density, adding frame tare; no nominal full-frame capacity table.
Description
Honey mass in a frame can be estimated from filled comb volume and density.
Honey mass in a frame can be estimated from filled comb volume and density. Distinct face areas avoid using an unspecified full-frame capacity constant.1
Estimate honey mass from distinct comb-face areas, filled honey depths and supplied density, adding frame tare; no nominal full-frame capacity table.
When to use Honey Frame Weight Full Estimate
Use this tool to estimate honey mass from distinct comb-face areas, filled honey depths and supplied density, adding frame tare; no nominal full-frame capacity table.
Prepare the hive, sample or operating measurements and any supplied target values. Confirm units, timing and whether counts or masses refer to the same population or batch.
How to use Honey Frame Weight Full Estimate and understand its results
- Prepare the hive, sample or operating measurements and any supplied target values. Confirm units, timing and whether counts or masses refer to the same population or batch.
- Enter combAreasCm2, honeyDepthsCm, filledFractions, honeyDensityGramsPerCm3, emptyFrameMassKg using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read estimatedHoneyMassKg, estimatedFullFrameMassKg. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| combAreasCm2 | Comb areas cm2 | list of number | Required |
| honeyDepthsCm | Honey depths cm | list of number | Required |
| filledFractions | Filled fractions | list of number | Required |
| honeyDensityGramsPerCm3 | Honey density grams per cm3 | number | Required |
| emptyFrameMassKg | Empty frame mass kg | number | Required |
Pair positive comb-face areas and nonnegative honey depths with filled fractions in [0,1]. Supply positive honey density in g/cm³ and nonnegative empty-frame kg. Return modeled honey kg and full-frame kg including tare.
Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths.
honeyKg = Σ(areaCm² × depthCm × filledFraction) densityGramsPerCm³/1000 Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| estimatedHoneyMassKg | Estimated honey mass kg | number |
| estimatedFullFrameMassKg | Estimated full frame mass kg | number |

} Limitations and assumptions
Faces and depths must refer to disjoint filled volume. Density, geometry and fill are supplied assumptions; wax volume, menisci and uncertainty are not separately modeled.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Deep Frame Comb Area: Calculate usable deep-frame face area after uniform excluded edges with caller dimensions and one/two sides; repeated medium/shallow aliases are not implemented. For a complementary task, use Honey Yield Per Super Estimate: Measure per-super honey recovery and residual from matched full/post-extraction frame weights and tares; frame wax/wood tare must remain constant.
