Extraction Room Throughput Frames Hour

Screen serial extraction-room bottlenecks including parallel stations, productive fractions and common setup; assumes adequate buffering and no hidden batch dependencies.

Description

A serial extraction line is limited by its slowest effective stage.

A serial extraction line is limited by its slowest effective stage. Parallel stations and productive-time fractions change stage capacity before the bottleneck is identified.1

Screen serial extraction-room bottlenecks including parallel stations, productive fractions and common setup; assumes adequate buffering and no hidden batch dependencies.

When to use Extraction Room Throughput Frames Hour

Use this tool to screen serial extraction-room bottlenecks including parallel stations, productive fractions and common setup; assumes adequate buffering and no hidden batch dependencies.

Prepare the hive, sample or operating measurements and any supplied target values. Confirm units, timing and whether counts or masses refer to the same population or batch.

How to use Extraction Room Throughput Frames Hour and understand its results

  1. Prepare the hive, sample or operating measurements and any supplied target values. Confirm units, timing and whether counts or masses refer to the same population or batch.
  2. Enter stationNominalFramesPerHour, parallelStationCounts, productiveFractions, shiftHours, commonSetupHours using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read stationEffectiveFramesPerHour, lineFramesPerHour, bottleneckStationIndexes, completeFramesPerShift. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.

stationNominalFramesPerHourStation nominal frames per hourlist of numberRequired
parallelStationCountsParallel station countslist of numberRequired
productiveFractionsProductive fractionslist of numberRequired
shiftHoursShift hoursnumberRequired
commonSetupHoursCommon setup hoursnumberRequired

Pair positive nominal frames/hour with positive integer parallel counts and productive fractions in [0,1]. Supply positive shift hours and nonnegative common setup no greater than the shift. Return stage rates, minimum line rate, all tied bottleneck indices and floor(lineRate×productive shift hours) complete frames.

Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths.

effectiveRate_i = nominalRate_i parallelCount_i productiveFraction_i; lineRate = min effectiveRate

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

The model assumes adequate buffering and no hidden batch dependencies. Setup is deducted once from the common shift, and throughput is not guaranteed observed production.

Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Honey Yield Per Super Estimate: Measure per-super honey recovery and residual from matched full/post-extraction frame weights and tares; frame wax/wood tare must remain constant. For a complementary task, use Honey Jar Case Fill Count: Plan complete jars/cases from usable honey including measured overfill and loss; incomplete jars are excluded, and legal net-content compliance is external.
