Feed Refusal Dry Basis Term Tool

Signed feed dry-mass balance from independently supplied offered/refused moisture bases.

Loading tool…

Description

Return offered/refused dry masses and difference.

Animal feed, milk and scaling terms require explicit dry-matter, energy, component and body-size bases. Empirical coefficients and caller-supplied prices are not universal biological laws. An intake or cost estimate does not select a diet, predict health or establish an appropriate intervention.

Return offered/refused dry masses and difference.

When to use this tool

Use Feed Refusal Dry Basis Term when checking the stated intake, composition, cost or allometric convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter offeredWet, offeredDryFraction, refusedWet, refusedDryFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read offeredDry, refusedDry, consumedDry. Use the output convention below.

Return offered/refused dry masses and difference. Require nonnegative wet masses and both dry fractions in [0,1]; consumedDry = offeredWet*offeredDryFraction-refusedWet*refusedDryFraction.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative difference is retained; losses, actual consumption, nutrient availability and suitable intake are not inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified animal/feed measurements, the intended validated model and qualified veterinary/nutrition advice for care or feeding decisions.
