Feed Energy Dry Matter Basis Tool

Calculate feed energy dry matter basis from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Loading tool…

Description

Return specific feed energy on dry basis and total energy.

Animal feed, milk and scaling terms require explicit dry-matter, energy, component and body-size bases. Empirical coefficients and caller-supplied prices are not universal biological laws. An intake or cost estimate does not select a diet, predict health or establish an appropriate intervention.

Return specific feed energy on dry basis and total energy.

When to use this tool

Use Feed Energy Dry Matter Basis when checking the stated intake, composition, cost or allometric convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter asFedEnergy, dryMatterFraction, asFedMass. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read energyPerDryMass, totalEnergy. Use the output convention below.

Return specific feed energy on dry basis and total energy. Require asFedEnergy/asFedMass >= 0 and dryMatterFraction in (0,1]; energyPerDryMass = asFedEnergy/fraction, totalEnergy = asFedEnergy*asFedMass.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • AsFedEnergy is energy per as-fed mass; digestibility, animal requirements and a recommended ration are not determined.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified animal/feed measurements, the intended validated model and qualified veterinary/nutrition advice for care or feeding decisions.
