Feed Refusal Collection Loss Adjustment Tool

Signed intake estimate retains inconsistencies when corrected refusal exceeds offered feed.

Description

Return refusal-recovery-corrected feed intake estimate.

Animal feed, milk and scaling terms require explicit dry-matter, energy, component and body-size bases. Empirical coefficients and caller-supplied prices are not universal biological laws. An intake or cost estimate does not select a diet, predict health or establish an appropriate intervention.

Return refusal-recovery-corrected feed intake estimate.

When to use this tool

Use Feed Refusal Collection Loss Adjustment when checking the stated intake, composition, cost or allometric convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter offeredMass, recoveredRefusal, recoveryFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read estimatedRefusal, estimatedIntake. Use the output convention below.

Return refusal-recovery-corrected feed intake estimate. Require nonnegative offered/recovered mass and recoveryFraction in (0,1]; estimatedRefusal = recovered/fraction, estimatedIntake = offered-estimatedRefusal.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The estimate may be negative; actual recovery, ingestion, nutrition and animal welfare are not verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified animal/feed measurements, the intended validated model and qualified veterinary/nutrition advice for care or feeding decisions.
