Learner Choice Activity Share Tool

Audit supplied self-chosen versus assigned activity time without inferring motivation or learning effectiveness.

Description

Return choice-time share after excluded chosen time.

Adult-learning records allocate supplied participation, contact time, credits and optional requirements. A local fraction or eligibility predicate follows the chosen counting policy; it does not assess learning quality, recognize a qualification or establish contractual entitlement. Excluded and optional components can change the denominator.

Return choice-time share after excluded chosen time.

When to use this tool

Use Learner Choice Activity Share when checking the stated adult-learning participation, requirement, text or time convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter chosenMinutes, assignedMinutes, excludedChosen. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read countedMinutes, choiceShare, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.

Return choice-time share after excluded chosen time. Require nonnegative durations and excludedChosen <= chosen; counted = chosen+assigned-excluded, choiceShare = (chosen-excluded)/counted or undefined at zero.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input

Limitations and assumptions

  • Exclusions and choices are supplied assertions; participation quality, agency and learning are not assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the actual course plan, learner needs and governing credit/recognition policy with the responsible educational team for substantive decisions.
