Description
Return exponentially discounted evidence score by recency.
Adult-learning records allocate supplied participation, contact time, credits and optional requirements. A local fraction or eligibility predicate follows the chosen counting policy; it does not assess learning quality, recognize a qualification or establish contractual entitlement. Excluded and optional components can change the denominator.
Return exponentially discounted evidence score by recency.
When to use this tool
Use Competency Evidence Recency Weight Term when checking the stated adult-learning participation, requirement, text or time convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter ageDays, halfLifeDays, evidenceScore. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read weight, weightedScore. Use the output convention below.
Return exponentially discounted evidence score by recency. Require ageDays >= 0 and halfLifeDays > 0; weight = 2^(-age/halfLife), weightedScore = evidenceScore*weight.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| ageDays | Age Days | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| halfLifeDays | Caller’s exponential recency-weight half-life, not an empirically estimated learning-decay rate. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| evidenceScore | Evidence Score | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| weight | Weight | Required. Finite number. |
| weightedScore | Weighted Score | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The half-life is caller-selected, not an empirically validated competency-decay rate or accreditation policy.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
