Grain Dryer Moisture Mass Balance Term Tool

Mass-conserving supplied moisture-basis bookkeeping, without drying instructions.

Description

Return grain mass after a supplied moisture change.

Farm records depend on counter resets, measurement calibration, moisture basis and elapsed-time conventions. A corrected count or maintenance remainder reconciles supplied data without detecting arbitrary resets, measuring actual calibration quality or authorizing equipment use. A rollover flag represents a specific accounting assumption.

Return grain mass after a supplied moisture change.

When to use this tool

Use Grain Dryer Moisture Mass Balance Term when checking the stated machinery record, counter, moisture or timing convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter initialMass, initialMoisture, finalMoisture. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read finalMass, removedWater. Use the output convention below.

Return grain mass after a supplied moisture change. Require initialMass >= 0 and both wet-basis moisture fractions in [0,1); conserve dry mass, final = initial*(1-initialMoisture)/(1-finalMoisture), removedWater = initial-final.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative removedWater represents modeled rewetting; actual drying kinetics, grain quality and safe equipment conditions are not determined.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect original logs, verified calibration and manufacturer service requirements for actual maintenance, yield or operational decisions.
