Grain Counter Reset Boundary Tool

Compute an exact supplied counter difference with zero or one explicitly known modular rollover.

Description

Return grain-counter increment under a single-rollover convention.

Farm records depend on counter resets, measurement calibration, moisture basis and elapsed-time conventions. A corrected count or maintenance remainder reconciles supplied data without detecting arbitrary resets, measuring actual calibration quality or authorizing equipment use. A rollover flag represents a specific accounting assumption.

Return grain-counter increment under a single-rollover convention.

When to use this tool

Use Grain Counter Reset Boundary when checking the stated machinery record, counter, moisture or timing convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter before, after, modulus, resetOccurred. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read increment. Use the output convention below.

Return grain-counter increment under a single-rollover convention. Require positive whole modulus and bounded whole readings; without reset require after >= before, with reset add modulus to after-before using exact intermediates.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
beforeBeforeRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
afterAfterRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
modulusModulusRequired. Safe integer; minimum 1.
resetOccurredAsserts one full-modulus rollover; does not represent an arbitrary counter reset.Required. Boolean.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
incrementIncrementRequired. Safe integer.

Limitations and assumptions

  • resetOccurred is treated as one full modulus rollover, not an arbitrary reset; actual counter history and multiple wraps are not detected.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect original logs, verified calibration and manufacturer service requirements for actual maintenance, yield or operational decisions.
