Agricultural Controller Counter Rollover

Compute a forward modular counter increment under an explicit modulus and at-most-one-wrap assumption.

Loading tool…

Description

Calculate a supplied modular counter increment with one-wrap interpretation.

Farm-machine records distinguish shaft speeds, nominal widths, diametral clearances, field logs and modular counters. A one-wrap counter difference cannot reveal multiple wraps or a reset, and a count-based coverage fraction does not verify actual operation. Supplied geometry and ratios do not establish safe or suitable settings.

Calculate a supplied modular counter increment with one-wrap interpretation.

When to use this tool

Use Agricultural Controller Counter Rollover when you already have previousCount, currentCount, modulus and need to calculate a supplied modular counter increment with one-wrap interpretation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter previousCount, currentCount, modulus. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read forwardIncrement, wrapped. Inspect wrapped before interpreting the associated values.

Require positive safe whole modulus and each count within [0,modulus-1]; subtract directly if current>=previous, otherwise add modulus around the difference. wrapped means current<previous.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
previousCountPrevious CountRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
currentCountCurrent CountRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
modulusModulusRequired. Safe integer; minimum 1.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
forwardIncrementObserved forward modular difference under a one-wrap interpretation; equal counts give zero.Required. Safe integer.
wrappedWrappedRequired. Boolean.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Equal counts give zero, not a full wrap. The observed pair cannot reveal multiple wraps, reset, reverse motion or actual machine activity.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated machine, field and maintenance records with the complete equipment assessment. Check operating conditions and applicable requirements before using local counts, conversions or clearances in an actual task.
