Orchard Intercrop Water Budget Share Tool

Calculate orchard intercrop water budget share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Return tree+intercrop-credit and available minus that union allocation.

Silvopasture and intercropping resource budgets depend on usable area, animal-unit equivalences and shared allocations. Nominal capacity ratios and water balances can reconcile supplied quantities while actual animal welfare, forage availability and crop-water requirements need a broader system assessment.

Return tree+intercrop-credit and available minus that union allocation.

When to use this tool

Use Orchard Intercrop Water Budget Share when checking the stated supplied water-allocation or animal-unit basis.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter available, treeAllocation, intercropAllocation, overlapCredit. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read netAllocated, remaining. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative available water, allocations and overlap credit no larger than either allocation. Return tree+intercrop-credit and available minus that union allocation.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative remaining water is retained; this bookkeeping term does not solve demand, soil-water transport or irrigation scheduling.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use measured system conditions and qualified veterinary, agronomic and water-management advice for actual stocking or irrigation decisions.
