Nutrient Balance Boundary Term Tool

Sum explicitly included nutrient ledger terms without soil or crop recommendations.

Loading tool…

Description

Independently sum included inputs and outputs, then return inputTotal-outputTotal.

Blend and nutrient balances require compatible component, material and accounting-period bases. Weighted mass fractions, unassigned carrier and included input/output terms answer different questions. A nominal available fraction does not determine actual biological availability or a suitable field application.

Independently sum included inputs and outputs, then return inputTotal-outputTotal.

When to use this tool

Use Nutrient Balance Boundary Term when checking the stated blend, nutrient or accounting-boundary term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter inputs, outputs, includedInputs, includedOutputs. Follow any array-alignment requirements below. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read inputTotal, outputTotal, balance. Use the output convention below.

Require each nonnegative input/output array aligned to its own inclusion flags. Independently sum included inputs and outputs, then return inputTotal-outputTotal.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Input and output lists need not have equal length; compatible nutrient, mass and accounting-period bases must be supplied.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified composition, compatibility and full system balances with qualified laboratory/agronomic advice for actual chemical or nutrient management.
