Hedgerow Pruning Dry Mass Volume Factor Tool

Calculate hedgerow pruning dry mass volume factor from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Loading tool…

Description

Return volume*wetBulkDensity*(1-moisture).

Tree and crop material budgets distinguish wet mass, dry biomass, nutrient mass and carbon mass. A belowground-to-aboveground ratio differs from a total biomass multiplier, while returned nutrient differs from plant-available nutrient. Material accounting requires an explicit mass and reporting-area basis.

Return volume*wetBulkDensity*(1-moisture).

When to use this tool

Use Hedgerow Pruning Dry Mass Volume Factor when checking the stated woody material, litter, nutrient or carbon basis.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter looseVolume, wetBulkDensity, moisture. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read dryMass. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative loose volume and wet bulk density, plus wet-basis moisture in [0,1]. Return volume*wetBulkDensity*(1-moisture).1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Density must represent the same loose material and volume unit; no compaction or drying process is modeled.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified biomass and composition measurements and a complete suitable nutrient/carbon model for stocks, sequestration or agronomic management decisions.
