Resource Loop Lost Input Share

Calculate an explicitly measured resource-loop loss fraction and retained amount in consistent units.

Description

Calculate supplied lost-input share and retained amount.

Agroecological metrics depend on sampling units, nonoverlapping coverage categories, mass bases and area denominators. Yield per whole plot differs from yield per allocated crop area, and literal crop-code richness per area is not rarefied diversity. Local count expansion assumes comparable density beyond the sampled segment.

Calculate supplied lost-input share and retained amount.

When to use this tool

Use Resource Loop Lost Input Share when you already have lostInputAmount, totalInputAmount and need to calculate supplied lost-input share and retained amount.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter lostInputAmount, totalInputAmount. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read fraction, remainder. Use the output convention below.

Require totalInputAmount>0 and lost in [0,total]; return lost/total and total-lost.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
lostInputAmountLost Input AmountRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
totalInputAmountTotal Input AmountRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
fractionFractionRequired. Finite number.
remainderRemainderRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Quantity basis and accounting boundary must match. No input flow, ecological loss process, reuse efficiency or suitable practice is assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the complete survey, experiment and ecological analysis. Check detection, spatial variation, sampling representativeness and resource boundaries before interpreting local fractions or supplied labels as ecological benefits or suitable practices.
