Description
Return dryMass*nitrogenFraction and multiply by both process fractions for availableNitrogen.
Agroecological material and density summaries depend on dry/wet mass, seed-component purity, nutrient transformations and sole-crop reference densities. An arithmetic contribution evaluates supplied assumptions without predicting emergence, nutrient availability or a whole-system ecological outcome.
Return dryMass*nitrogenFraction and multiply by both process fractions for availableNitrogen.
When to use this tool
Use Legume Residue Nitrogen Supplied Factor when checking the stated residue, seed, nutrient or reference-density basis.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter dryMass, nitrogenFraction, mineralizedFraction, recoveredFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read nitrogenMass, availableNitrogen. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative dry residue mass and nitrogen, mineralized and recovered fractions in [0,1]. Return dryMass*nitrogenFraction and multiply by both process fractions for availableNitrogen.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| dryMass | Dry Mass | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| nitrogenFraction | Nitrogen mass/dry residue mass. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| mineralizedFraction | Mineralized Fraction | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| recoveredFraction | Recovered Fraction | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| nitrogenMass | Nitrogen Mass | Required. Finite number. |
| availableNitrogen | Assumed mineralized-and-recovered portion, not an inferred nutrient recommendation. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Mineralization and recovery are supplied assumptions, not measured or predicted; this does not select a nutrient application rate.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use representative field/laboratory measurements and a complete suitable agroecological model for management decisions and uncertainty.
