Compost Nutrient Available Supplied Factor Tool

Calculate compost nutrient available supplied factor from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Total nutrient=wet*dryFraction*nutrientFraction; availableInventory multiplies by suppliedAvailableFraction.

Blend and nutrient balances require compatible component, material and accounting-period bases. Weighted mass fractions, unassigned carrier and included input/output terms answer different questions. A nominal available fraction does not determine actual biological availability or a suitable field application.

Total nutrient=wet*dryFraction*nutrientFraction; availableInventory multiplies by suppliedAvailableFraction.

When to use this tool

Use Compost Nutrient Available Supplied Factor when checking the stated blend, nutrient or accounting-boundary term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter wetMass, dryFraction, nutrientFraction, suppliedAvailableFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read totalNutrient, availableInventory. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative wet mass and dry, nutrient and supplied available fractions in [0,1]. Total nutrient=wet*dryFraction*nutrientFraction; availableInventory multiplies by suppliedAvailableFraction.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Nutrient fraction is per dry mass; the available fraction is assumed, not predicted, and no application rate is recommended.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified composition, compatibility and full system balances with qualified laboratory/agronomic advice for actual chemical or nutrient management.
