Extension Print Copy Shortfall

Compare explicit requested and available print-copy counts, separating shortfall from surplus.

Description

Compare supplied requested and available print-copy counts.

Extension records distinguish participant groups, recognition credits, demonstration labels, communication intervals and source editions. A credited-hour product is a supplied recognition convention rather than assessed competence. Copy shortfalls and access-format labels do not establish actual distribution, usability or learning outcomes.

Compare supplied requested and available print-copy counts.

When to use this tool

Use Extension Print Copy Shortfall when you already have requestedCopies, availableCopies and need to compare supplied requested and available print-copy counts.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter requestedCopies, availableCopies. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read shortfallCopies, surplusCopies. Use the output convention below.

Require both nonnegative safe whole counts; shortfall=max(0,requested-available), surplus=max(0,available-requested).1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Equality gives two zeros. No actual stock, distribution, accessible format, permissions or appropriate print quantity is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use original session, participant, material, source and feedback records with the complete outreach evaluation. Check access and context before interpreting local counts or labels as effective advice or suitable educational support.
