Description

Calculate unassigned contact hours after supplied completed and missed hours.

Adult-education records distinguish qualification credits, recognized evidence, contact time, access formats and consent assertions. Clock hours need not match institutional credit-hour definitions, and missed hours can be a separate recorded category rather than completed study. A selected format label does not establish real accessibility.

Calculate unassigned contact hours after supplied completed and missed hours.

When to use this tool

Use Adult Course Missed Contact Hour Remnant when you already have requiredHours, completedHours, missedHours and need to calculate unassigned contact hours after supplied completed and missed hours.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter requiredHours, completedHours, missedHours. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read remainingHours. Use the output convention below.

Require all three hour quantities>=0; return requiredHours-completedHours-missedHours.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Missed hours are subtracted as a separate recorded category, so this is not the usual required-minus-completed make-up requirement. Negative discrepancies are retained; no actual hours or qualification policy is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review learner needs, source evidence, qualification rules and actual course records. Use the complete educational and recognition process when local balances, dates or labels cannot establish competence, eligibility or a feasible access arrangement.
