Qualification Required Optional Credit Pair

Combine explicit required and optional credit values, allowing fractional credits and defining optional fraction as zero for an empty total.

Description

Calculate supplied total and optional-credit share.

Adult-education records distinguish qualification credits, recognized evidence, contact time, access formats and consent assertions. Clock hours need not match institutional credit-hour definitions, and missed hours can be a separate recorded category rather than completed study. A selected format label does not establish real accessibility.

Calculate supplied total and optional-credit share.

When to use this tool

Use Qualification Required Optional Credit Pair when you already have requiredCredits, optionalCredits and need to calculate supplied total and optional-credit share.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter requiredCredits, optionalCredits. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read totalCredits, optionalFraction. Use the output convention below.

Require required/optional credits>=0; sum them and return optional/total, or zero when total=0.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Zero-total share is a convention without a separate defined flag. No qualification rules, recognized credits, learning or eligibility is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review learner needs, source evidence, qualification rules and actual course records. Use the complete educational and recognition process when local balances, dates or labels cannot establish competence, eligibility or a feasible access arrangement.
