Description
Compare dry and wet pigment drawdown thicknesses.
Artwork dimensions depend on whether a measurement describes the image, support, window, overlap or reserved edge. Linear enlargement multiplies area by the square and volume by the cube of the scale. A signed clearance or width adjustment retains useful direction information, while a nominal geometric fit still needs material, production and installation context.
Compare dry and wet pigment drawdown thicknesses.
When to use this tool
Use Pigment Test Drawdown Wet Dry Thickness when you already have wetThickness, dryThickness and need to compare dry and wet pigment drawdown thicknesses.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter wetThickness, dryThickness. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read retainedThicknessFraction, thicknessReduction. Use the output convention below.
Require wetThickness>0 and dryThickness>=0; return dry/wet and wet-dry as thicknessReduction.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| wetThickness | Wet Thickness | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| dryThickness | Dry Thickness | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| retainedThicknessFraction | Dry/wet thickness; may exceed one. | Required. Finite number. |
| thicknessReduction | Wet minus dry thickness, retaining negative values. | Required. Finite number. |

"retainedThicknessFraction": 0.6,

} Limitations and assumptions
- Dry thickness may exceed wet thickness, giving a ratio above one and negative reduction; no paint chemistry, drying behavior or suitable film thickness is selected.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Check an actual dimensioned layout or calibrated test piece for mounting and production. Use a geometric model for full enlargement or overlap accounting, and physical drawdowns or material tests when thickness behavior matters.
