Description
Elapsed duration after explicit offset correction, using one shared time unit and no inferred time zone rules.
A research diary or bench measurement uses a defined observation window, clock, unit, and reference level. Missing timing, incomplete collection, and unverified measurements affect how a result can be interpreted. Record arithmetic and signal terms describe supplied data without establishing clinical status.

When to use this tool
Use Urinary Diary Clock Shift Duration when you need a research-record or bench calculation with already supplied measurements, units, and observation boundaries.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter localStart, localEnd, startUtcOffset, endUtcOffset. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read localDuration, correctedDuration, offsetChange. Use the output convention below.
Return localDuration=localEnd-localStart, correctedDuration=(localEnd-endUtcOffset)-(localStart-startUtcOffset), and offsetChange=endUtcOffset-startUtcOffset.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| localStart | Local Start | Required. Finite number. |
| localEnd | Local End | Required. Finite number. |
| startUtcOffset | Local-minus-UTC offset at start, in the same unit as localStart. | Required. Finite number. |
| endUtcOffset | Local-minus-UTC offset at end, in the same unit as localEnd. | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| localDuration | Local Duration | Required. Finite number. |
| correctedDuration | Corrected Duration | Required. Finite number. |
| offsetChange | Offset Change | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Offsets use the local-minus-UTC convention in the same unit as local times. Numeric axes and any day rollover are supplied; the tool does not select a time zone or reject negative durations.
- The field tables state structural bounds; the mechanics also specify cross-field constraints. Malformed inputs and unsupported domains cause errors. A successful false flag, empty branch value, or zero placeholder has the meaning stated above and is distinct from an input error.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use an appropriately validated measurement and analysis method for clinical interpretation. Verify diary completeness, clock conventions, and measurement units before combining these terms into a research summary.
