Description

Integrate supplied piecewise-constant bench flows and explicit baseline, preserving signed corrected volume.

A research diary or bench measurement uses a defined observation window, clock, unit, and reference level. Missing timing, incomplete collection, and unverified measurements affect how a result can be interpreted. Record arithmetic and signal terms describe supplied data without establishing clinical status.

Integrate supplied piecewise-constant bench flows and explicit baseline, preserving signed corrected volume.

When to use this tool

Use Research Flow Baseline Gap when you need a research-record or bench calculation with already supplied measurements, units, and observation boundaries.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter flowSamples, durations, baselineFlow. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read observedVolume, baselineVolume, correctedVolume. Use the output convention below.

Require aligned flowSamples and nonnegative durations. Sum flowSamples[i]*durations[i] for observedVolume, multiply total duration by baselineFlow for baselineVolume, and subtract that baseline for correctedVolume.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Flow units must be volume per supplied duration unit. Samples are treated as constant over their intervals and may be signed; baseline is supplied rather than estimated or clinically validated.
  • The field tables state structural bounds; the mechanics also specify cross-field constraints. Malformed inputs and unsupported domains cause errors. A successful false flag, empty branch value, or zero placeholder has the meaning stated above and is distinct from an input error.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use an appropriately validated measurement and analysis method for clinical interpretation. Verify diary completeness, clock conventions, and measurement units before combining these terms into a research summary.
