Description
Calculate compost-bay fill fraction and remaining nominal capacity.
City-garden planning combines nominal container geometry, route lengths, water masses, access sides and shared-resource accounting. A litre quantity becomes mass only with a density, while reach depends on the declared accessible sides. Simple margins and shares organize supplied measurements; material behavior, structural capacity and individual access needs require separate assessment.
Calculate compost-bay fill fraction and remaining nominal capacity.
When to use this tool
Use Garden Compost Bay Fill Fraction when you already have recordedCompostVolume, bayCapacity and need to calculate compost-bay fill fraction and remaining nominal capacity.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter recordedCompostVolume, bayCapacity. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read fraction, remainder. Use the output convention below.
Require bayCapacity>0 and recorded volume within [0,capacity]; return volume/capacity and capacity-volume.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| recordedCompostVolume | Recorded Compost Volume | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| bayCapacity | Bay Capacity | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| fraction | Fraction | Required. Finite number. |
| remainder | Remainder | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Nominal volumes do not account for compaction, decomposition, aeration, leachate or suitable operating limits.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Measure the actual bed, container and access routes before applying nominal dimensions. For roof loading or water delivery, use the full support or hydraulic calculation; reconcile volunteer and harvest records over one common accounting period.
